By using linear motors to drive the compression pistons instead of conventional driving rods, the CryoSphere sets the new standard for efficiency. Its dynamic gas bearings prevent all mechanical contact between pistons and cylinders.

Compressed helium gas inside the CryoSphere creates a driving force on a displacer piston. The free movement of the displacer piston is exactly tuned in resonance frequency to provide the highest efficiency possible. The displacer is equipped with low stress flexures of infinite durability.

Due to their high radial stiffness these flexures prevent the displacer from making any mechanical contact, thus eliminating wear and tear. To maintain a stable operating temperature, the CryoSphere fully adapts its cold production to the cooling requirements of the application by changing the stroke of the pistons.
