Solutions for LNG storage and distribution


Stirling StirLNG liquefiers are extremely suited for LNG boil-off gas management handling and re-liquefaction.

While storing and transferring LNG, boil-off gas is formed which will increase the pressure in the system/storage tank. If this is not properly managed this gas has to be vented/released to the atmosphere. This not only gives a significant pollution to the environment (Methane is the second most prevalent greenhouse gas) but it is also a loss of revenue. Venting boil-off gas can be a serious operational cost.

Adding Stirling Cryogenics systems into the LNG handling system, will help you manage this problem. The StirLNG-1 and StirLNG-4 can be connected to any LNG system to re-liquefy LNG boil-off gas (BOG). After re-liquefaction the LNG is returned to the system, preventing the user from venting.

A single StirLNG-1 can re-liquefy around 400 kg/day of LNG at 4 barg (290 gal/day or 1.100 ltr/day) and a single StirLNG-4 around 1.400 kg/day at 4 barg (1.100 gal/day or 3.800 ltr/day). Actual capacity varies, based on composition, temperature and pressure. As multiple units can operate in parallel (giving you redundancy and flexibility) the generic range we can offer is from 250 to around 24.000 kg/day (150–20.000 gal/day or 240-73.000 ltr/day) of LNG boil-off gas re-liquefaction.

Possible applications for re-liquefaction solutions, with our systems, that can be considered are LNG storage facility, terminals, LNG fuel stations etc.
